In this bench session I swapped in a high-frequency reed switch on the multi pulse motor, used coil 32 32 as trigger, removed the transistor completely, added a 200 ohm 100W green resistor, and measured the draw while it tried to spin. We saw rotation with the stack of magnets but no real torque until we discuss adding a capacitor. Lots of alligator clip wrestling and summer heat.

Short bench log from the day I finally got the reed switch working on the multi pulse motor. Used coil 32 32, ditched the transistor, and ran a 200 ohm resistor. Got some rotation but torque is still missing — probably needs a capacitor. Measurements were around 2.7 A after it leveled out. Hot summer shop, sweaty hands, and plenty of alligator clips. yo what's up everybody this is Papa Bale and we're GNA open this package of read switches these are high frequency read switches nice they'll be up to upwards of around 1500 RPM these magnets will fly off well before that cuz they're just chilling there as a matter of fact yeah I just put them on there so that the the the trigger coil would fire but now that we're using a read switch I don't need them on there all right you can see that torque when it comes around yeah um I mean it can't pull anything it looks pretty neat put those right there got to un an angle straps or zip ties whatever freaking ties garbage ties so many ties all right we got the ties off now we need to get one switch and we need to shunt um thing of a job yes the thing of a job the the green resistor all right all right we're going to shake these around a little bit just trying to get them all loose you can't do it like that obviously all right we got our one though that's good we'll sort that out later I love it summertime y'all it's hot it's hot all right what do we want we want the 32 gauge or the 26 gauge to be our coil 32 32 small shat or small dime small shaft oh man that might not have been good all right we're going to try something that we don't normally do oh oh smack we're we're going to even though the coil is the heart of the pulse motor we're going to put the power in switch first oh and I think um what what'll be what will happen and since since um we can just do two coils less what I'm saying is we can put these two coils together in series all right I got to start fresh this all the connections look weird okay trying to get your hand motion going yeah the the crocodile CS it's like working really terrible stuff okay so that's DC and it's coming in and then we'll go oh yeah but we wanted to go in here first that's what's going through his mind right now all these different connections I said that like three times you want have to go through here first green R resistor cuz it is a lot of power going to end up going through here and we're going to take the transistor out Al together which will free up some connections for this monstrosity of a project cuz I'm literally down to what's on at your feet D bro that's all I got so here's two oh wow my kids are having fun yeah I hear that all right so oh man close want to kind of move that out of the way put this up here like this you got to keep that connection separate not really L to work all right now we can connect the coils I mean I can't complain it's more room than a lot of people have to work with so but I am clumsy for sure I am not aware of my surroundings in here I think we got that welcome Happy Birthday thank you happy happy all right let's go back to theill happy birthday aw I'm sweating I'm starting to sweat too and these clips are so greasy when I'm sweating it's hard to work with know all right we're almost done though we almost got all the necessary connections made and I had a close-up on uh Papa Bell's hands there but the the kids came in and uh it's a birthday [Music] today all right back in I'm trying to get the alligator clip action some of it's hard to get but no doubt oh okay man dude we got to hook up the other F some crazy craziness you want to you want to pause and go like yeah dip let take a pause all right we'll be right back y'all we're going to get some cooling action going on need to get some ice water we are back what's up everybody we're going to put 5.91 in we're going to try and get this pulse motor to move I I hooked up a re switch with a 200 ohm 100 wat resistor right here this green thing is a resistor uh I might need a capacitor I don't know yet though we'll see if we can run it without a capacitor we're good far as I know we can run it without a capacitor that bumped up a little bit wow it did bump up a little bit leave it I got get over there yes sir way I can I got you cuz this gets in the way if I spin that way right spin both ways 2.7 [Music] 2.8 [Music] 2.9 it's working I'm going to go up on that read switch there yeah I think it's working too turn to turn it is the the light's definitely going it's puling [Music] so leveled out at 2.7 amp that's in yep uh I don't know what's going on right here it feels oh wow it feels like it's working though there is quite a bit of an air gap now because I took those other magnets off but I feel like it's working amps are going down volts went down also what do you think man it's functioning I do yeah I think we're good let me pull this out we see if it slows down relatively fast cuts off no not that one okay we going to try a little bit of a s experiment here [Music] no it's not so it's just it's recognizing it but no torque yeah no torque and there's plenty of ants going through those were these that's the stack of magnets just moved okay oh we do have some motion he's trying to go [Music] all right so what what do you conclude here well uh I thinking something's getting in the way we probably have to use a capacitor to trap the energy and stack it up a little bit and so when it gets used it's enough to make it cuz it it is working you know I might put those magnets back on here all right so let's wrap this one up all right so in conclusion you probably need a little bit more magnetic power there is some rotation with the re switch um we might remove the resistor resistor might be getting in the way um might need a capacitor so I think the next step would be to remove the resistor got it all right so with that uh peace out ladies and gentlemen we're going to
