Use non-magnetic rotor materials: wood, PVC, acrylic, 3D-printed plastic. Even magnet counts (4, 6, 8, 12) work well. Eight is a popular sweet spot.

All magnets same pole out unless you're intentionally testing stagger patterns. Balance ruthlessly. Skateboard bearings are great for shaft builds; pole-and-disc levitation is a different friction story.
